I’m tired of the cold. I want get out with Sofia and frolic in the outdoors. But unfortunately, even though the weather has hinted at Spring the past couple days, we’ll have to endure the melting of all the snow and mushy ground that follows before I’ll be able to let her run around in the yard. We only made it outside in the snow a couple of times this winter because by the time the snow actually showed up, so did the bitterly cold temperatures and she doesn’t have the tolerance to stay out for more than 10 minutes when it’s 15 degrees out. So, we have basically spent the last month hunkered down inside, looking wantingly through the patio door at the snow outside.
The flip side of Spring making an appearance is that the snow and ice in our yard will be replaced by the dirt and sand underneath it. I’ll take the white snow over the brown dirt anyday. Then I don’t have to look at the constant reminder that we still don’t have grass in the front yard and just how expensive grass IS to plant. Especially when you have acres of it to plant. Oh and how we have to fix the drainage problem in the front yard before we can plant the grass. Which will take more time. And we can’t fix it until the yard dries out. Which bring me back to that snow melting = mushy yard point above. It’s all in the details folks, all in the details. So with any luck, next Fall won’t be like last Fall (wet and rainy) and we can get our grass planted. Yes, I typed next Fall. We’ll have something to look forward too, right? (Glass is half full, glass is half full, glass is half full….)
